Quinta das Carvalhas Touriga Nacional 2022

The Douro is famous for Port, but its north- and south-facing slopes are increasingly making serious still wine, and Quinta das Carvalhas's Touriga Nacional proves it. Violet and black cherry bring real intensity. Firm tannin gives it plenty of structure through the middle. Bay leaf lingers by the close. Herb-roasted lamb or a hard aged cheese would make a hearty match. Douro producers spent a century perfecting Port, and it turns out they were quietly perfecting this too. Drink date: 2026-2032.
